No really, I now have nighttime internets and I will use it to make up for my sad excuse for a blog up until now, with a super super MEGAPOST. You will be SHOCKED BY THE MEGAPOST.
I am living now at La Ceiba Grafica for a week, where I can do art and print on a press to my heart's content.
My bedroom is absolutely awesome. There seems to be a group of highschoolers living here with me. BUT FIRST THINGS FIRST.
Let me introduce you to the SECOND most hilarious picture I've ever taken:
THEY WANT OUT. It was actually a really unnerving situation. I'm so glad they weren't animatronic.
I went to Guatemala last week with my Canadian friend, Fay.
But beforehand, we stopped in San Crisotbal, Chiapas, Mexico. Which was my favorite part because it was before the TERRIBLE SICKNESS. I think the culprit of this spout of vicious Montezuma's Revenge was a salad in Tapachula. Note: before the Guatemalan border. I didn't get to eat ANY Guatemalan tasties thanks to the TERRIBLE SICKNESS. Even so, you wouldnt believe how beautiful everything was there. But I'm getting ahead of myself. We haven't even gotten past the scary escape babies.
CHURCHES I SEEN in SAN CRISTOBAL:
GUATEMALA:
This is what I'm talking about when i say Guatemala was beautiful. It looked like that all the time too. Volcanoes, lake, boats.
And little Mayan kids playing in the water, which was beautiful and clean and wonderful and the perfect temperature.
I went swimming here.
Easter parade. That's Jesus in a coffin, there were other floats of crying Mother Marys.
Cows in someone's yard.
Semana Santa church rotten banana decorations in Santiago, Atitlan.
On a boat going across the lake. It took like 20 minutes to cross, going FAST.
The ferry boat captain let us sit on the top of the ferry. AWESOME.
A hat i probably should have bought.
THINGS YOU MISSED BECAUSE I WAS LAZY:
Rene II's birthday party, he's 40. We ate consome de mariscos with entire shrimps and fish vertebras in it. REALLY GOOD. I don't like flan, ends up. Jellophobia.
This picture is just adorable. Michelle's bday, month ago.
My first Mexican wedding. There was a spiderman pinata for boys, for girls, then a giant one with balloons full of money in it. I got hit with some delicious chocolates and drank SIX tiny beers. SIXXXXX beers. I went with the fam and Fay. It was awesome. I love tamales.
Odet. She is my favorite person I've met at the Faculdades de Artes Plasticas she is the nicest ever. EVER.
The most beautiful park in the world with the biggest fish. If I ever actually go running I'm doin it there.
I am still fascinated by the powerline moss, too.
This was the beginning of ziplining. That tree is really tall, I dunno if you can tell but it is like SO tall.
Melissa ziplining.
these are the borreadors, or something like that. They were around Tajin, you gotta train from a little kid to spin upside down for that long. We saw little kid training poles and they were still SO SCARY. A guy dances on the top before they spin, he actually jumps and spins around and beats a drum WHILE playing a flute. You wonder if they ever fall, right?
Climbin' up.
Comin' down.
These are my terrible legs. But now they're good, sorta sunburned but good.
Tajin.
This was a really magical tree. With magical lights and magical swings.
MAN WITH SCARY MONKEY PUPPET. This thing was the coolest thing I ever seen. It was made out of coconuts and wood and wire and looked around and moved EVERYTHING. SCARY. Dad you would have liked it so good.
have you gotten my second letter yet? maybe you won't ever get it...it is not as good as the first, I think, so it is OK if you don't get it. Anyway--I told the story about the maggots today and I missed you. And Thalia was doing something that reminded me of you the other day and I said: Ellis did that all the time. I said it like I was never going to see you again, and that made everybody sad, even Thalia, whom you haven't met but whom you will really like.
ReplyDeleteI am up at 4 in the morning in the union of all places. and I have class at 8! and I am working on some stories--one to submit to a magazine later "today."
I'm glad you updated your blog. I like your photographs, especially the babies.
I am excited to see your prints.
I am in a play: Troilus and Cressida. (I am playing Alexander and Diomedes)
I will probably be done with my major after next semester--and if I am not I will only have one class left to take.
I miss you so much. I don't know who to talk to when you're not around.
My ears are so warm!!!!!
